Organ and Saxophone

"The sacred" from Back to Piazzolla

The Organ: Vincenzo Cipriani
The Sopran Saxophone, Contralto and Baritone: Vito Soranno

This formation proposes a programme of religious inspiration which places next to J.S. Bach’s cantatas and chorales, the compositions by authors of jazz repertory such as Tyner, Corea and Mingus. What is more, the programme pays a particular attention to a contemporary musician, that is to say A. Piazzolla who is famous for his tangos, including among his large musical production, many compositions of religious inspiration like: Ave Maria, El Cielo en las Manos ( to the Reverend Father Ganchegui), Close Your Eyes and Listen, etc.

The performers are Vincenzo Cipriani (the organ) and Vito Soranno (the saxophone) who teach at the Academy of Music in Matera (Italy). Being excellent soloists, they have performed the programme in various concerts for prestigious concert associations, obtaining an enormous success both from public and critics.
Among the last concerts, it is worth remembering that of the 20th of December 2009 at Saint Jean Baptiste de Belleville in Paris.
The originality of this formation consists above all in the fusion of the timbre of the two instruments. The repertory performed is not only original (this is the first time that such a repertory is performed using these two instruments), but also fascinating and well arranged. These pieces are so full of poetry, that they are capable of leaving a mark in whoever is listening to them.
